Abstract
Six preparations of immunoglobulin M (IgM) from patients with Waldenstrom macro-globulinemia and normal IgM of different species (man, guinea pig and mouse) have been studied by the monomolecular layer method. Molecules of normal IgM, like molecules of normal IgG, are oriented horizontally at the aqueous NaCl solution — air interface, but abnormal IgM molecules always have vertical orientation. Unlike IgG, there were no essential differences in the surface denaturation rate for normal and abnormal IgM.
