Abstract
A fragment of El gene of virulent strain Shi-Min of classical swine fever virus(CSFV) 775 bp in length has been cloned using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Primary sequence of the cloned fragment has been determined. This fragment has been fused to glutathione-S-transferase and expressed in E. coli. Molecular weight of the part of El protein was estimated to be 31 kD as expected. The recombinant protein has been found mainly in insoluble fraction, its yield was up to 15% of the total cellular protein. Possible use of the protein is discussed.
