Abstract
Three types of translating hybrid-isotope 70S ribosomal particles: (H)-30S*(D)-50S, (D)-30S*(H)-50S, ((D)-RNA-(H)-protein)-30S*(D)-50S have been investigated by the neutron-scattering method. It is shown that small subparticle rather than large one is primarily responsible for alteration in compactness of the 70S ribosome observed during translocation.
