Abstract
A simple and reliable method for silver staining of RNA and homopolyribonucleotides after electrophoresis in PAAG, containing 7M of urea, is described. The sensitivity of the method is by three orders of magnitude higher than that of the staining with methylene blue. RNA-silver complex formation is shown to be dependent on the composition of polyribonucleotides. Thus, maximum sensitivity of the method is observed with poly (G) and poly (I), while poly (U) demonstrates negative staining.
