Abstract

The efficiency and mechanism of yeast mannans antiphytovimt action depend on the mannan concentration and the experimental system type. Mannans at moderate concentration, probably, do not influence immediately tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) penetration into a cell and virus reproduction, but they activate protective mechanisms of hypersensitive plants. However, their increased concentration can suppress TMV accumulation in susceptible plants and in mesophill protoplasts obtained from both susceptible and hypersensitive tobacco plants. The mannans inhibitory effect on the translation of cellular and viral RNA in vitro has been showed.
