A fragment of DNA including the rpoB gene coding for the p-subunit of rifampicin-resistant RNA-polymerase of E. coli and rplL and rplJ genes encoding ribosomal protein synthesis as well as two promoters Pj and PP was cloned into the filamentous M13mp9 phage. The stability of the recombinant phages was shown to increase as the result of the elimination of the strong Pj promoter.
