Proteins accessible to trypsin in ribosome and in ribosomal subunits from extreme thermophilic Thermus thermophilus have been analyzed. In 70S ribosomes 7 proteins of the small (SOS) subunit, TS2, TS3, TS7, TS12, TS17, TS19, TS20 and 5 proteins of the large (SOS) subunit, TL5, TL8, TL9, TL23, TL24 were accessible to trypsin. Dissociation of 70S ribosomes into subunits leads to no appearance of proteins accessible to trypsin. This confirms previous conclusion on the absence of ribosomal proteins between the subunits (Yusupov M. and Spirin A., FEES Lett., 1986, 197, 229—233).References
