Abstract

The partial proteolysis of leucyl-tRNA synthetase (LRS) was carried out in the presence of different tRNA conformers. Active tRNA conformers (tRNAa) were found to protect the LRS against proteolysis, while inactive conformers (tRNAi) did not show the protecting effect. tRNAa+i inhibited the rate of aminoacylation as evidenced by the inhibitory analysis, but tRNAa+i renaturation eliminated this effect. These results as well as recent data on LRS thermoinactivation demonstrate the difference between tRNAa-LRS and tRNAa+i·LRS complexes
