Abstract

Review focuses on the results of studies of structural and functional organization and interactions of the viral and eukaryotic genomes, which were conducted during these 20 years in the Department of biochemical genetics (formerly Department of mechanisms of nucleic acid replication). Experimental results, on structural and functional organization of baculovirus genomes of three nuclear polyliedrosis viruses are analyzed. It was established that infectious baculovirus genome is the supercoiled DNA molecule. A new type of baculovirus genome modification has been detected and the new expression system for the synthesis of heterotogous proteins has been created. The materials on the study of intergenomie interactions on the models of cell-virus, transqenic mice and early mouse embryos and investigation on the problem of development regulation in early mouse embryo are generalized.
