Abstract

The total DNA of an effective Rhizobium meliloti strain CXM1 was cloned in pRK290 plasmid in E. coli. Transconjugants with the different efficiency of symbiotic properties are obtained during mating of recombinant E. coli clones with avirulent R. meliloti mutants CXM1-125 and CXM1-126. A recombinant plasmid restoring effective symbiosis of CXMI-125 mutant with alfalfa is identified.
