Abstract

Steady-state kinetics of the polypeptide chain elongation is theoretically analyzed based on hypothesis of the stereospecific stabilization of the codon-anticodon complexes at ribosome during the aa-tRNA selection and translocation stages. The ratio of GTP splitting rate and polypeptide chain elongation rate is studied. Equations have been obtained describing dependence of this ratio on the concentrations of the aa-tRNA, aa-tRNA-EF-Tu·GTP complex, EF-Tu·GTP and EF-G·GTP complexes.
