A hypothesis about the impact of mutations in the mitochondrial DNA of the pathogenesis of trisomy 21, have been proposed. It explains the increased risk of Down syndrome with maternal age, relationship with malignant diseases, autoimmune processes, repeated cases DS combination with other disorders, the origin of the paternal chromosome 21.Downloads
