Abstract

The influence of UV irradiation of recipient A. tumefaciens cells on the frequency of the foreign gene transfer into Ti plasmid via intermediate vectors has been investigated. It has been established that the frequency of this process after transient irradiation of recipient cells is 10–100 times higher than the frequency observed without irradiation. This fact is suggested to be used as an effective method to increase the foreign gene transfer frequency into Ti plasmid if the intermediate vectors are applied for it.
