Abstract

Results obtained from examination of carriers-ampholytes (hereafter named «almalite») prepared at the Kazakh State University by IEF in column of sucrose density are presented: pH gradient is constructed, conductivity and absorption of 280 nm UV light are measured. Almalite is used for analytical IEF in thin-layer PAGE. Linearity and stability of the formed pH gradient are shown. Isoelectric separation of enzymes, soluble and membrane proteins of various plants and animals is conducted. Conclusions are made that almalites do not inhibit some enzymes and effectively separate complex mixtures of soluble and membrane proteins of plants and animals.
