Abstract

To apply random amplified polymorphic DNA for analysis of phylogenetic relationships among australian species of the genus Nicotiana, we used 20 synthetic oligonucleotides as primers to examine intraspecific variation among 22 species of the genus. On the basis of the dendrogram constructed with maximal parsimony (Wagner) method, investigated species were subdivided into three major clusters, with basic species of the section localized in two of them, in a strict agreement with classical taxonomy of the section.
