Abstract

The localization of Klebsleila oxytoca VN 13 in rice roots and the patterns of their interrelationships have been investigated by electron microscopy. These studies demonstrated that bacteria were localized in a slime on a surface of roots and in peripheral root cells and that their number increased from basal edge to distal one of a root (1); indicated that penetrations of bacteria into host cells occurred through t he root cell wall hydrolysis with bacterial enzymes (2); suggested that the effect of the bacterial invasion was restricted with the peripheral layer of root cells in the two-week rice seedlings (3).
