The expression of protooncogenes c-myc and c-fos during the first cell cycle in regenerating rat liver

Abstract

The relative amount of transcripts of protooncogenes c-myc and c-fos was detected by hybridization methods in nuclear RNA and poly (A) containing cytoplasmic RNA of hepatocytes during 37 hours after partial hepatectomy. The changes of inRNA concentrations are the same for c-fos and c-myc in the nucleus but are displaced to each other in the cytoplasm. The character of these changes indicate that regulation of expression of the two protooncogenes proceeds both on transcriptional and posttranscriptional levels.
