Aim. To investigate the expression of all eEF1 complex subunits at the mRNA and protein levels in human renal cancer. Methods. The protein content and mRNA level of the eEF1 complex components were analyzed in 18 clinical human renal carcinoma specimens and correspondingly paired normal tissues by Western blot and Northern blot techniques. Results. The changes in the level of protein components of the eEF1 complex or mRNAs coding for these proteins in human renal carcinoma specimens were found to be not essential. Conclusions. This study suggests that eEF1 subunits have no additional cancer-related functions in renal tissue. The data indicate that the occurrence of cancer-induced changes in the eEF1 subunits expression may depend on the tumor localization
