Two biologically active de novo proteins, ABB1-11 and ABBI-1, were engineered by including the fragment LKDRHDF (30—36) from human interferon-a2 (HuJFN-a2) into the N- and C-termini of albeferon —de novo protein with pre-designed structure and function. It was shown that both proteins prevented the destruction of the L-41 and VERO cell monolayers generated by cytopathical action of a virus with the efficiency of native HuIFN-a2 and did not possess cytotoxicological properties.
