Teichoic acids of bacteria and their biology properties

Here we review the data on bacteria teichoic acids and their biological properties obtained by Ukrainian and foreign authors. A special attention is given to the structure, physical and chemical properties of bacteria teichoic acids, their role in the function of bacteria cellular wall, and their influence on the mammalian organism. Of particular interest are the investigations of their influence on immune system: induction of the cellular immunity reactions, synthesis of antibodies, production of cytokines activation of the complement system.
