Regulation of the type I interferon genes and interferon-inducible genes. The protein factors of transcription complexes

KARPOV A. V.

The information concerning the protein transcription factors involved in regulation of the expression, of the type I interferons (a- and fi-IFNs) and I FN-inducible genes is presented in the review. The known structural characteristics and subunit composition as well as their contacts with regulator domains of corresponding promoters, protein-protein interactions and their role in gene expression have been described. A renewed general scheme of the a/p-IFN genes and 1 FN-inducible, genes expression in response to the induction has been offered. Taking into account the new data, it is emphasized the. significance of high order spatial structure of the transcription complex (enhanceosome) consisting of relatively independent but bound with each other groups of transcription factors. This gives a possibility for an organism to react specifically to external factors (viral infection, etc).
