A role of ATP hydrolysis in the ribosomal elongation cycle of higher eukaryotes

A comparative analysis of yeast EF-3 ATPase and fiOS ribosomal ATPase of higher eukaryotes is presented. A princ/.pal similarity oj their main properties is shown and a role cf these ATPases in protein biosynthesis is reviewed. A functional meaning of AT.1' hydrolysis in the ribosomal elongation cycle is discussed.
