DNA in bands of poiytene chromosomes is not under lorsional tension

Topological state of DNA in bands of poiytene chromosomes of Camptochironomus tentans was investigated under confocal laser scanning fluorescent microscope by micnj/luorometric method. It was shown that the bands contain topologica/ly closed, negatively supercoiled domains of DNA in which the value of the relative twist difference is very low and does not exceed 0.007.
