Determination of Temperatures of Structural-Phase Reconstructions in Model and Biomembranes From Spectral Characteristics of Merocyaninc 540

Summary

    Absorption and fluorescence spectra of cyanine dye merocyanine 540 (M540) in organic solvents, liposomes from different classes of lipids, in rat liver micro-somes and erythrocytes were studied. It was shown that together with the known way of determination of temperatures of phase-transitions T°n from absorption spectra of M540, determination of T°n from quantum yield of monomers was possible; at the same time the method proposed was more simple. Comparison of both methods was carried out.
