Genetic Transformation of Some Solarium and Lycopersicon Wild Species by Leaf-Discs Method
Summary
Using Agrobacteriutn iwme/aciens-mediated transformation kanamycin-resistant plants of Lycopersicon peruvianutn var. humifusum, L. peruvianum Mill., L. pennellii, Solatium aculeatissimum, S. sisymbrifolium, S. gilo, S. mammosum were obtained. By this procedure plants of L. peruvianum var. dentatum, S. rickil, S. lycopersicoides, S. nigrum resistant to kanamycin, hygromycin as well as resistance to both kanamycin and hygromycin were obtained too. Assay of neornycin phosphotransferase (NPTII)-activity confirmed this chimaeric gene expression in the transformed plants.
