Determination of Quantum Yields of DNA Photocleavage by Laser in Presence of Intercalating and Nonintercalating chromophores

 

Summary

 

    Effects of DNA photocleavage in presence of ethidium bromide (EB) and rfboflavin (RF) was studied. Irradiation of DNA by UV-laser (337 nm) with pulse intensity 55 kW/cm2 in presence of EB or RF induce single- and double-strand breaks in supercoiled form of pBR322 DNA. Quantum yields of DNA photocleavage were equal to 0,6-1Q-5 for EB solution and 3,6-ID"5 for RF solution.
