Gene Amplification and Herbicide Resistance in Plants
Summary
General features of the amplification process in eukaryotes as well as prokaryotes and the known exemples of the amplified genes are briefly reviewed. The discovery of amplified genes in plants resulting in their herbicide resistance is described. The dominant directions in the study of mechanism of gene amplification cover the study of ori regions and the recombinant structures of amplified DNA.
