Some Cyto- and Morphogenetic Effects of para-Fluorophenylalanine in Tissue Cultures of Nicotiana tabacum and Papaver bracteatum

Summary

Cytogenetic analysis of cultured Nicotiana tabacum and Papaver bacterium cells resis¬tant to paro-fluorophenylalanine (pFPA) has been provided. pFPA retarded polyploidy process and enhanced proliferative activity of cells with low ploidy, and stimulated morphogenesis in both species calluses. Low frequency of chromosome aberrations in tobaco tissue culture resistant to pFPA has been demonstrated. Regenerated from re¬sistant tobacco callus plants characterized with mixoploidy status.
