ROLE OF THE NUCLEOCYTOPLASMIC RATIO IN REGULATION OF THE MAMMALIAN DEVELOPMENT. DEVELOPMENT OF THE EMBRYOS WITH THE DOUBLED CYTOPLASM VOLUME
Summary
Certain blastomeres of the two-cell mouse embryos and blastomeres with the doubled cytoplasm volume have been compared as to their development in vitro. A decrease of the nucleocytoplasmic ratio had no effect on the rate of embryo cleavage, but the blasto-coele appearance was 10 h delayed with more cleavage divisions than in control. The presented hypothesis suggests that the change of cellular morphogenetic programs requires definite concentration of substances — products of the previously realized program.
