PLASMID TRANSFORMATION OF STREPTOCOCCUS LACTIS SPHAEROPLASTS.

Summary

The optimal conditions for production of transformable spheroplasts of Streptococcus lactis using lysozyme were determined. It has been established that viability of Strepto¬coccus lactis cells fell rapidly when concentration of lysozyme or duration of lysozyme treatment increased. The successful transformation of Streptococcus lactis spheroplasts by two heterolo-gous plasmids pRT84 and pLF2 was performed. It was found that expression of Bacillus amylollquefaciens gene coding for amylase cloned in pRT84 took place in Streptococcus lactis cells.
