THE ABSENCE OF TY ELEMENTS AND 2 pn DNA IN NATURAL SACCHAROMYCES
Summary
We have analyzed the spreading of the well-studied repetitive elements of S. cerevislae genome (Ty elements and 2 u,m DNA) in the related natural species of S. terrestris. None of the homologous DNA sequences were found in different isolates of S. terrestris. The result is discussed in terms of hypothesis about the eukaryotic repetitive elements role in the species molecular determination.
