THE YEAST PURINE BIOSYNTHESIS GENES CONTAIN REGULATORY SIGNALS OF THE GENERAL AMINO ACID CONTROL
Summary
The promoters of three genes coding for enzymes of purine biosynthesis pathway — ADE1, ADE2 and ADE4 contain a conservative octanucleotide fragment of sequence TGACTCTT. This fragment includes a perfect copy of a consensus sequence for the regulatory site at which the GCN4 gene product binds to the promoters of genes regulated by the general amino acid control — TGACTC.
