STIMULATION OF DNA SYNTHESIS IN HEPATOCYTES BY SERUM FRACTIONS OF HEPATECTOMIZED RATS

Summary

The acid-ethanol extract of the hepatectomized rat serum (obtained 3 or 24 hs after the partial hepatectomy) contains proteins stimulating DNA synthesis in the primary culture of the adult rat hepatocytes. The active fractions partially purified by gel-filtration on the bio-gel P-60 include the spectrum of proteins with a molecular weight of 50-70 kDalton characterized by a shift towards more acidic pH values in comparison with the control, as it was shown by electrofocusing electrophoresis. Stimulation of DNA synthesis in hepatocytcs in vitro is more pronounced under the effect of the active fractions of serum obtained in the earlier periods after the partial hepatectomy.
